HI Itan.

I understand what you are asking.  Unfortunately there is not a way to customize the column numbers.  You simply have to leave unused columns blank.

Best Regards.

Andy

I recently started using CaptainsLog and have found it to be very useful for what I need, thanks.

One of the main reasons I like the program is that the print pages can be customised, however I would like to find out if we are able to create pages with a customised number of columns? It appears I am restricted to a choice of 4 (10,12,16,20).

In my printouts the total columns do not align (or fall) directly below the appropriate column above - they are gradually offset to the left. Now my print outs go over two pages so the totals for those columns at the "join" may be on the adjacent page rather than on the same page.

None of this is a big issue, but it would be nice if I could customise the number of columns and have the totals print on the same pages!

CaptainsLog 2000 has successfully been tested on Windows Vista 32 bit.  There are 2 prerequisites to be aware of though...

1 - Before Installing CaptainsLog 2000 Pro with the intent of hotsyncing to a Palm PDA, you will need to download the latest version of Palms Hotsync Manager, install it and test it BEFORE installing the CaptainsLog 2000 Program.  You can get the latest Palm Software from..

http://www.palm.com/us/support/downloads/

2 - In order to view the CaptainsLog Builti-in Help documents, you will need to download the WinHelp32 support package to display the built-in help.  You can get this from microsoft here...

http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=82148

Additionally you may need to be aware of issues related to installing Microsoft Office..  This is usually solved by uninstalling and re-installing CaptainsLog 2000 after a new installation of MS Office...

This appears to be a bug that occasionally occurs when trying to run an instant summary from the Logbook Quick-Edit page.  if you go back to the regular Logbook Page and re-run it it should work.

I will look for a solution to this.

All,

My efforts to build a Windows Mobile PDA app is currently on hold.

Sorry but it has proven to be too large a project for me to finish at this time.

If I restart the effort I will keep you posted.

Hi,

If you are having crashes, we will need to troubleshoot that with you directly as that is not normal.  we should be able to fix that for you.  email me directly at support@juland.com with the specifics of the crashes and we'll work through it with you.

As for previous time.. You may not need to enter all your previous entries, but instead choose to simply enter a summary record for all previous time and then continue on with the digital logbook from this point forward.  To do this you simlply make a single logbook entry that doesn't have any takeoff or landing airfields, or a takeoff or land time, but does include summary values for Duration and All applicable Flight Time and Event fields, which all total up to the sum of all previous flying time.

Some choose to make a seaprate summary entry for each aircraft type... like 1200 hours in C-172  ..  350 Hours in PA28. ...   etc.

Each entry is like entering a single flight, but actually represents a summary of all flights pertinent to that Aitrcraft type.

Just make the Date of the entry the last date of the period being summed.

Hope this helps.

Hi Tom.
typically the Logbook data file (*.clg) is stored in the C:\My Logbooks\ folder

And there is no need to Re-Register.. We can look up your registration and email it to you any time.  Just email me directly at support@juland.com

Thanks,

Andy

OK, so I purchased this product last night and aside from the numerous crashes, I am attempting to input my times from my flight time reports, and the mass update tool is not effective as stated.

I DO NOT have digitial data to start with, it is all in the form of paper. I DO NOT want to input 26 years of flying into this program. Please explain how to initiate a baseline of times that WILL GET FORWARDED AND TOTALLED as entries are made.

Thank you.

Andy --

I've been a CL2000 user for several years, loved it. My motherboard on my old laptop crashed, I was able to get back on the hard drive but I'm unable to find the *.clg file for my logbook. I had version 2.0. I redownloaded the free trial on my new laptop and have searched all over the entire CL2000 folder which I copied from my old hard drive to find my logbook. The only thing that looks close to it is the MSACCESS file that is approximately 30MB, but when I try and run it I get all sorts of errors and it's not syncing up at all with the SR2.2 version. Yes, I did backup the file but alas, the backup was erased on my flash drive when I had to download all my stuff off the old hard drive (which I expected to be able to refind my logbook very quickly). Two questions:

1) Where would I find the *.clg file if I downloaded my old CL2000 folder on my flash drive? Using a *.clg search did not work.
2) I'm more than happy to repay the $39.99 to download and register a new version if necessary, but I want to know I can refind the data first. Is having the trial version preventing me from being able to download the MSAccess data onto my new laptop?

Thanks again....

Tom

Hi Jimmy,

I think you may be able to run VMWare Workstation on Linux and have a WindowsXP environment with CaptainsLog 2000 running in a windows on Linux.  I haven't done it myself, but others are doing it on Macs so I think it should work.

Let me know if it does work for you.
